This stone is from the Kaimai mountain region in the Waikato and is a reasonably hard Igneous Andesite stone. Ideally suited to random ashlar bond with a traditional exposed mortar bed. Very much underated as a 'Schist alternative' Drystack stone when laid to a tight random ashlar schist profile as seen in the enlarged photo is suitable for true drystack applications.
